Security Officer Onboarding Checklist

Everything that has to happen between 'you're hired' and the officer standing alone on a post at 2200 hours, in order, with a signature line at the end.

Built for PPO owners and supervisors bringing on new officers. · Updated 2026-08-01

PPO #122730

How to use it

  1. 1.Start the checklist the day the offer is accepted, not the day of the first shift.
  2. 2.Do not schedule an officer to a post until licensing verification and site training are both signed off.
  3. 3.Pair every new officer with an experienced officer for at least one full shift on the post.
  4. 4.Complete the equipment issue form the same day and file it with this checklist.
  5. 5.Do a 30-day check-in — it is the cheapest retention step available to a small operator.
