PPO (Private Patrol Operator)

The California business license required to contract out security guard and patrol services.

A Private Patrol Operator (PPO) license is the company-level license the California Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) issues under the Private Security Services Act (Business and Professions Code Section 7580 et seq.) to firms that provide contract guard and patrol services.

It is distinct from an individual guard card — a PPO-licensed company must employ properly registered guards, and licensing involves a qualifying manager examination, background checks, and insurance requirements set by BSIS.
