Gate and yard control
- Every vehicle logged in and out: carrier, driver, trailer number, seal number, time.
- No trailer leaves without a seal check against the paperwork.
- Yard lighting audit at 2 a.m., not at noon — you cannot see the dark spots in daylight.
- Randomize patrol timing. A predictable 11 p.m. lap teaches thieves your schedule.
Dock safety
- Wheel chocks or restraints on every trailer before entry.
- Dock plate condition checks each shift.
- Never a person under a raised load, never a shortcut across a live dock face.
Forklift and pedestrian separation
- Painted walkways, mirrors at blind corners, and horn discipline at intersections.
- High-visibility vests inside operating areas — including for visitors and security officers.
- Make eye contact with the operator before crossing; assume you are invisible until you do.
Cargo and metal theft
- Catalytic converter and copper theft drive most overnight losses at Sacramento-area industrial parks.
- Secure scrap and spool storage inside a fenced, lit, camera-covered area.
- Photograph and log every after-hours contact, even a walk-away — patterns predict the return visit.
