Clients often ask for an armed officer because it feels more serious. But deterrence on a property-crime site comes from visibility, randomization, and documentation — not from what is on the officer's belt. An offender casing a lot at 2 a.m. is deterred by the marked unit, not by an inventory of its equipment.
The question to answer is narrow: is there a credible, documented risk of violent confrontation at this post? Cash-in-transit, dispensary vaults, some healthcare and courthouse-adjacent posts, and sites with a specific named threat can genuinely clear that bar. A warehouse losing pallets does not.

- Observe, document, and report with photographs and written narrative
- Control access, verify identity, and refuse entry
- Issue trespass warnings and support law enforcement with accurate descriptions
- Escalate to 911 quickly and give dispatch usable, specific information
- Handle unhoused and mental-health encounters humanely and defensibly
